I'd say the game has made some strides, but it still has a ways to go. Especially in providing some challenge in the right sort of ways! Some enemies here are already hard, but apply that scroll of invisibility and get in a few free hits. Other than a couple of fundamental concerns (namely some better tracking AI and getting more use out of the hard-limit timer) what should be looking into is balance: potions have very little sway after a while, and statistics that deal straight bonuses have to be very, VERY carefully tweaked to ensure that essentially not-too-easy, not-too-hard scaling. This is usually why modern games focus on percentage buffs, because they are typically easier to shift around and remove the need for perfect balance. I still like the graphics and the songs, and I'm looking forward to skills.

I could say something like "it's already been a year why isn't it better", but let's be realistic here. This is a roguelike. We're lucky when they get updated at all!
