2015 Volvo XC60 | 5 Reasons to Buy | Autotrader
The 2015 Volvo XC60 has been a top luxury crossover for years, and it's staying in the game with some cool new features. The style's always been there, of course, and so have the premium features and excellent crash-test scores. For 2015, there are a couple of new surprises under the hood. Here are five reasons to investigate for yourself.
Two New Engines
The XC60's base 3.2-liter 6-cylinder engine is a bit of a letdown, with medicore acceleration and lackluster fuel economy. Fortunately, there are more options. If you're cool with front-wheel drive, there's a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that makes 240 horsepower and gets 31 miles per gallon on the highway, a 6-mpg improvement over the previous front-wheel-drive 3.2. Stepping up to all-wheel drive, the T6 Drive-E model has a 4-cylinder that's turbocharged and supercharged, a combination that's good for 302 hp and 30 mpg hwy, which is a pretty exclusive club. With these new powertrains, the XC60 vaults back into contention in this fast-changing segment.
Sleek Interior Design
If you want your car to feel like a chic urban condo, the XC60 should be at the top of your list. From the trademark floating thin-panel center stack to the Sensus infotainment system, the XC60's got it going on. When you buy a Swedish car, contemporary interior decor should come standard, and the XC60 delivers.
Superb Seats
While we're on the subject of the XC60's cabin, let's talk seat comfort. If you have a sore back and you own a Volvo, go sit in the front seats. They might be the most supportive chairs you own. For the kids, you can get built-in rear booster seats that make parenting a lot easier. Volvo's always been a leader in this regard, and the XC60 carries on the tradition.
Carlike Ride and Handling
You sit up nice and high in the XC60, but it's got a buttoned-down feel on the road. It's based on a car platform, and you can tell. The steering's nice and responsive, and the ride is supple over all kinds of pavement. You can even do a little off-roading if the mood strikes. Some crossovers make you feel like you're driving something big and bulky, but this Volvo puts you in control.
Top Safety Scores
Volvo's synonymous with safety, and the data backs that up. The government gave the XC60 a perfect 5-star rating in all crash-test categories. That's less common than you might think -- a lot of vehicles these days get five stars in one category, but they're not consistent across the board. If you want the safest crossover for the money, you're looking at it.
AutoTrader Says
Are you shopping for a luxury crossover? With two fresh engines on tap, the 2015 Volvo XC60's still got what it takes.
