3The 2016 Mercedes-AMG GT S made its North American debut in Los Angeles, adding some high-performance flair to the already exciting Mercedes-AMG GT sports car.
On the outside, the GT S offers a primarily aluminum body, designed to help keep its weight down and its performance up. The exterior mimics the standard AMG GT but boasts normal doors rather than gullwings, as on the SLS that both models will be replacing.
Under the GT S's hood is a 4.0-liter, twin-turbocharged V8 that makes an impressive 510 horsepower -- about 50 more than the standard Mercedes-AMG GT. The result is a 0-to-60 time of around 3.8 seconds, with a top speed of nearly 200 miles per hour. Although the automaker has not yet confirmed when the 2016 Mercedes-AMG GT S will reach dealers, we expect to see it on sale sometime next year.
