Tried to use this in April but gave up because of the setup procedure, now it's much easier though with a single installed and then just run the .exe and you're up and running. In the Startup/shutdown settings in SteamVR you can set it to always launch with SteamVR.
It's a prototype, which is stated in the documentation, still I wanted to run through it. I had tested it before this video which means I missed a few things, and it turned more into a demonstration than an actual first time test. I just didn't think about it as I was eager to run it at all.
Some things to note, random order:
1. Using the counter sample gadget can lock my input for controllers to it, making it impossible to keep using Aardvark is intended.
2. The Aardvark overlay is now most often rendering on top of the dashboard. I'm not sure if there's a config file somewhere, probably, but if there isn't one it would be nice to have Aardvark hide when the dashboard is visible.
3. Not in the video, but I was able to attach things to my hands, it just felt quite random when they would be detached. In the end I just moved them far away and they would indeed detach.
All in all it's a promising concept, and kind of a substitute for not being able to natively pop Steam browser windows into VR at will. Looking forward to tinker with this and future developments.
