Is the ALL NEW 2022 Infiniti QX60 a midsize luxury WORTH the PRICE?
Once upon a time, Infiniti was at the forefront of the Japanese luxury sedan game, but more recently the company has turned its attention to premium SUVs—for instance, the 2023 QX60. In some ways, the QX60 is faithful to the brand’s original formula of combining a striking design with a posh cabin at a high-value price point. But its roots as a rebodied Nissan Pathfinder cannot be ignored and cast the QX60 in a downmarket light. The greasy bits that underpin the two SUVs are essentially identical, right down to the 295-hp V-6 engine and nine-speed automatic transmission that are standard on every model. Dynamically, the QX60 is a softie—as long as you avoid the temptation of optional 20-inch wheels—and we figure most buyers in this class won’t mind the Infiniti’s lack of cornering attitude, but it sure makes us yearn for the sports sedans that marked the brand’s peak era. At the very least, the QX60 is equipped with the same niceties as key rivals such as the BMW X5, the Lincoln Aviator, and the Mercedes-Benz GLE-class. Unfortunately, the Infiniti lacks the upper-class swagger of those competitors and instead comes across merely as a really nice Nissan.
What's New for 2023?
The QX60 rolls into the 2023 model year with few changes, but a wireless smartphone charging pad is now standard, as is a frameless rearview mirror design. The QX60’s bumpers now come with gloss-black accents on Luxe models and dark-gray accents on Sensory and Autograph trims.

Pure - $50,395
Luxe - $55,250
Sensory - $59,795
Autograph - $63,795
The Sensory trim is the model we'd suggest. It comes standard with premium features such as massaging front seats, heated second-row seats, an air purifier, wireless smartphone charging, a motion-activated power liftgate, and a 17-speaker Bose stereo system. Front-wheel drive is standard and will likely be fine for most buyers, but all-wheel drive is a $2000 option.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
The 2023 QX60 is powered by a 295-hp V-6 engine and comes with a nine-speed automatic. All-wheel drive is optional, but on the new QX60, front-wheel drive is standard. The QX60 offers up to 6000 pounds of towing capacity, an increase of 1000 pounds over the last-generation model. During our initial test drive of the 2022 QX60, we appreciated the new nine-speed automatic's smooth shifts and well-controlled body motions when cornering. The ride is stiffer than we expected for what otherwise is a comfy cruiser, especially on the optional 20-inch wheels. When we have a chance to take the QX60 to our test track, we'll update this story with test results.
