It was a big day in Qatar by any standards: Red Bull's Max Verstappen, by finishing second in the Sprint, clinched his third FIA World Drivers' Championship; the winner on the day, though, was the young Australian rookie, Oscar Piastri, who planted his McLaren-Mercedes on the pole, led from the start, relinquished the lead temporarily to George Russell's soft-tyred Mercedes - and then held off a late-race challenge from Max to win his first F1 race. Lando Norris, who qualified second after a couple of driving errors in the Shoot-Out, finished third; and fourth and fifth were the Mercs of Russell and Lewis Hamilton. Ferrari, also on the soft tyre, finished sixth and seventh. In this video Peter Windsor looks back at a tumultuous race - and at Shoot-Out that in many ways defined what was to come.
Note: after this video was posted, Ferrari's Charles Leclerc was demoted to P12 due to four further track limit infringements.
