This weeks 20p challenge is Konami's Salamander which was released in 1986 for the arcades.

This is an alternating sideways and alternating cocktail shooter that switches after each boss.
Its also has a rather nice level up system, great speech and a catchy soundtrack.

This is my first time putting any effort into this game and boy is it tough, whilst a technical marvel at the time I cant help feel that this was just designed to take your hard earned pocket money.
Whilst the patterns are'nt complex, the sheer number of on screen sprites and over lively backgrounds makes this game for me at least almost unplayable.

That being said I do intend on polishing up my skills and beating the game, it just might take about forty thousand credits :D

oh and I managed to score 234700, it should have been more but I think the game gets harder the better you do but I could be wrong.
