Everything is squaring up nicely, yes that was a terrible pun. I find that in construction games where their are to many options to optimize I can never make up my mind how to build. Analysis paralysis kicks in. By forcing myself to work within blocks of 15 tiles (excluding walls) it reduces the options drastically. Then it's just a case of optimizing for 15*15 and that is a much simpler task.
