More than 120 soldiers from 35 Engineer Regiment have returned home to their base in Paderborn after six months on Op Herrick 15.

37 Armoured Engineer Squadron had a variety of roles in Afghanistan, providing support to Afghan, Danish and American forces, as well as supporting the £1.2 million Freedom Bridge project.

It was a poignant homecoming for the soldiers as their colleague Sapper Elijah Bond was killed during the tour. He died in December after being injured in an explosion.
