#35 NOSFERATU - PLAYTHROUGH (stages 2 till end) - Beating My Snes Games
Here is the playthrough of Nosferatu done live on IGTV. Due to space restrictions I was only able to record from stage 2 onwards.
Follow me on instagram @CabinSNES_fever to join me live or via my reviews and uploads to witness me take down all the games currently in my SNES colleciton, following on from having already beaten all 234 licenced UK releases for the NES. I only use original carts, no cheats & no save states.
REVIEW:
-Ever wondered what playing Prince of Persia in Transylvania as Jonny Cage would feel like? Well now your prays have been answered.
If you're as experienced with both those games as I am, you'll appreciate that one similarity between them is their stiff controls. Things aren't much better here! Much like Pince of Persia you'll have to master that awkward relationship between timing delayed inputs and memorising the relentless array of instant death traps!
Its a tiring process continually playing the same stages over and over, only to make an inch of progress for every new spike trap that kills you forcing you to repeat it all over again! Given how incredibly long each level is, the gameplay demands patience. Patience maybe a virtue but it needs balance to work! While obviously impossible without infinite continues & each level does offer a checkpoint at halfway, the fact there's no password; forcing the entire game to be finished in one sitting, really is enough to make my blood boil! (perhaps a good thing given the Vampire setting?)
The Control is responsible for many deaths, not least when attempting to run, particularly after waiting the 400 years it takes to complete the turn animation! With L,R, A&X not being used, it's simply mind boggling that running is activated with 'FORWARD FORWARD' ahhh... theres nothing more unforgiving in a pixel precise platformer than forward forward being run!
The stark difference between this & PoP is your martial art capabilities. What could be a more effective way of dispatching zombies and werewolves than kicking the Unliving shit out of them? Much like the rest of the controls it's fairly delicate to master but theres no denying it's satisfying when effective. Red gems upgrade moves but they're so easy to lose it's rare I actually utilise the benefits!
The later boss fights can be pretty tricky to find strategy, tho when unlocked the process is fairly straightforward.
Despite how it may sound I did actually enjoy this. If you're a PoP fan there's very little not to like, however all the criticisms, pain and suffering associated with that series is all too familiar here. You have been warned!
