395 (Short Horror): UNUSUAL GHOST, MONSTERS ATTACK, iZOMBIE, MANIAC PATH
Four short horror games from old giveaways.
UNUSUAL GHOST: A weird little, vaguely reminiscent of Bubble Ghost according to chat, where the candles are called berries, the level names are randomized nonsense, and the controls are inconsistently responsive. I stuck with it through twenty levels, some beaten on the first try, some on the twentieth. And this is TEN DOLLARS on Steam??
MONSTERS ATTACK is a pretty basic wave-based/survival FPS. They have some nice weird and creepy monster designs (baby-head-abdomen spiders, anyone?) and some occasionally wonky ragdoll physics. The guns get way overpowered, as chat especially points out for the one-hit-kill minigun. The first level is too easy and waves come too slowly, so we try the last level, titled "East," where you have to survive for ten minutes. Manageable, as long as you're always on the move!
iZombie is somebody who's always glued to their iPhone, haw haw haw, no but actually it's what looks like a mobile port. Grow your zombie army within each level by capturing other zombies and biting humans, until you can overpower the other zombie factions, also upgrading your zombie troops between levels. Oddly ard to put down. Check out the part where I misread the name of a German city!
MANIAC PATH casts players as a slasher villain. We slice civillians in have, slice police in half, use our Sparkling Knife Power to fly through the sky. What was that last one again? And then we decide to swap the knife for a shotgun, something you don't see in many slasher flicks! Fun enough for me to finish. In one level you get into a car to run people down: I got distracted and left the game running, and the people ran right into my stationairy car, I swear officer! Speaking of police, this game implies taht they get promoted based on how many times they can get shot without dying. I have to think that's not accurate.
They do give away quite a range of games!
