396 (Cinematic Platformer Sept.): Turn On Your DEADLIGHT (DC), day 2
The second half of this really cool cinematic platformer. Without spoiling too much, we seek the rat-spawn, run afoul of someone with a gun, die a LOT, and track the rest of our friends while still looking for our wife and daughter. I'm generally able to figure out what to do eventually, even in the tougher moments. The story has a satisfying ending, and we all enjoy the art style of the cutscenes, which reminds chat of some other games.
After beating it and watching the credits, we check out some of the bonus features, including 1980s-style astandalone handheld games and really interesting behind-the-scenes videos and developer interviews. Interestingly, the gameplay footage they show in these seems to be from the original version, rather than the director's cut. I think I like the look of the original graphics better than the one we played--it looks a little cleaner and starker. Either way, Deadlight is absolutely worht checking out for fans of zombies, horror, and cinematic platformers!
