Spelunking in the Tech Cave with Mike:
Why the new Gear VR has a compromised design.
Start with this chart - http://vrguy.blogspot.com/2013/04/converting-diagonal-field-of-view-and.html
Then show the screen mask with the Note 7 and then the S4.
Show VR test pattern with numeric scale to determine your FOV.
Measure length of screen
Device length by 750 and store this number (It is your numeric scale to screen length constant)
Multiply SL constant by the furthest number you can see. This is the maximum screen lenght you actually see in through your HMD.
Multiply this number by 2
How to add a Google Cardboard capacitive touch switch for less than a dollar (sadly yo have to buy enough for hundreds)

The Printwhisperer:
We have talked about it before, safety in the classroom/ shop should be a priority. If something is shown to cause injury it is likely to be abandoned by teachers and faculty. 3D printers have powerful motors that can pinch you, hot ends that can burn you, and tools for removal that can cut you.
Last week I cut myself real bad through my gloves. Without gloves it might have been much worse.
Always wear proper safety attire. Most important: STURDY GLOVES
Mechanix makes great gloves.
Proper tools make getting parts off the build tray easier. Cricut spatula
Take a lesson from Lulzbot and build cooldown procedures into your gcode. Wait to unload until it has finished this process.
Practice common sense. Remove parts away from you. Don’t use sharp knives to do this etc...
