500 Streams! Idol Mind Is The Devil's Playground: TRILBY'S NOTES day 1
SONG: To Morrow
I stuck wtih it through 500 streams (I quit now. JK.), and we're playing this classic horror game to celebrate. It's my first time playing the third game in the series. Expect various silly diversions and visits from side charactes in this stream.
This text-driven adventure fills in the story between 5 Days a Stranger and 7 Days a Skeptic, greatly expanding the lore. We once again play as gentleman thief Trilby, now a sort of government agent. The Defoe Manor incident has left its mark on him, and once he discovers that the cursed idol has survived the fire, he sets off for a remote Welsh island, where he hopes to get his paws on the idol (in a manner of speaking) and destroy it.
The elderly history professor who plans to display the idol and other artefacts has it locked away, but almost immediately, things begin to go wrong for Trilby. He begins to shift to a nightmare version of this blighted hotel, one where hideously tortured corpses and smears of blood adorn each room. With the staff gone and with his identity and mission a secret to everyone except a fellow (rival?) government agent, Trilby's on his own. And he's beginning to see things, think things, even when he's in the normal hotel. Is he going mad? Is the spirit in the idol reaching out for more carnage? Is there something much larger going on than our reformed thief could ever have imagined? And will they ever fix the arcade machine in the bar?
I love the setting and atmosphere in this one, and the story's amazing. Various scenes from the past gradually show us more and more, and it's exciting to see alternative versions of every room and effect a change in one version with our action in the other. Usually the puzzles aren't too hard, except that had to look up a hint to realize that we were supposed to notice a tiny thing on the wall. I can't wait to learn the ful history of the idol and this sinister entity in the next couple of streams.
As part of the 500th stream celebration, I sing, we see a cat, a new cheer alert is revealed, something about wine candy bars, AND we wrap up by reminiscing about some of the many, many games I've streamed. This includes old favorite and ones I probably never would have played if I wasn't a streamer. I can't thank my community enough for all their support. For old time's sake, we also have an OBS crash, just like we used to. Except this kind doesn't end the stream, just freezes onscreen chat, borks alerts, and leaves OBS streaming with mpaired functionality. Um . . . we'll fix that by stream 1000. Probably.
Game giveaways have become so much less popular than they were in my early streams. I'll most likely phase them out.
