Boss Rush Mode! Basically. I think these are supposed to be uh... Jade golems of sorts. Their name is in the credits, we'll find out there!
Gotta get one thing off'a my chest here... Zoomed in uppercut is NOT the most powerful! I had thought it was becasue of how quickly it attacks. Turns out that a regular punch chain while zoomed in does the most damage. Yup.
You'll see that I get really wrecked on a couple of guys here, especially the final (and new) boss. Oh, and I wasn't sure how L.I.V.s work (lives). It turns out that ANY "Break Time!" is a checkpoint, not only the ones where you can save. So, my preventative life buying has been wasted! Hey, you only live once!

Aw, yeah~! This game is Red Hot, baby! Our hero Joe is just some regular, uh.. Joe that finds himself sucked into the world of movies after witnessing his girlfriend, Silvia, get kidnapped by a giant robot that grabbed her from straight outta the old-school movie he was watching! This game was amazingly cool and fluid back in the day, and heck, still is! Now you can see it in all its 60 fps glory as was always intended! (Progressive Scan, too!)
I hadn't played this game in a long time, but I did unlock pretty much EVERYTHING some years ago. Here, we'll be starting a new file on "Adults" difficulty. I'll be rediscovering stuff along the way, so, consider this a casual playthrough!
A large part of this game is about Joe finding the hero in himself, so he's constantly evolving. At the start he can't even transform and will take double damage and deal out only weak punches and kicks. Soon, Captain Blue's spirit will teach him the transformation move ("Henshin a-go-go baby~!") and he'll be able to double jump and call upon the magic of movies to deal out the pain to his enemies!
Speaking of movie powers... you'll see a LOT of "SlOooOoow~!" This is because it's essential to starting combos and multipliers. Basically, if you dodge an enemy correctly, you'll break open their defenses and "Slow!" will appear above their head. If you activate slow, a crosshairs will appear and if you hit the enemy, a "ROCK ON" combo will begin making crosshairs appear on EVERYONE else. As long as you remain in slow-mo, every hit you deal on an enemy will knock them far away and add +1 to your multiplier for that fight sequence. In short: Slow motion is essential for lots of points! You'll rarely want to use an ability like Mach Speed alone (Speeds up Joe, and things in film) because it makes it harder to react and see leaving you open to a sneak attack. Zoom is basically a way to deal out big damage to things nearby. SO, uh. You'll be seeing a lot of slow mo! Need those points to power up Joe!
You'll also be seeing some Zoom uppercutting and slow-mo later on, 'cause really... it's the strongest thing in the game that you can instantly throw out breaking through any minon's defenses and destroying them. I feel it's a liiiittle bit cheating, so I try not to do it too much.
Those film canisters you see everywhere extend Joe's VFX meter by a slot once you collect 50. Very important for longer combos and special effects sequences. If you lose all your VFX, you'll turn back to regular Joe, and that's just not cool!

A couple technical notes:
This is being played on a Nintendo Wii, a system backwards-compatible with GameCube discs, with component cables. The Wii has the same hardware built-in as the GameCube. Progressive Scan was also enabled in-game so that a clear image is available with no deinterlacing.
