(60fps) KOF 2000 on a NEOGEO #66 - new button layout! (roulette team play)
I've been using an arcade stick with the King of Fighters 2000 light punch, heavy punch, light kick, and heavy kick buttons arranged like this
LP HP
LK HK
And similarly, for Street Fighter, which has two more attack buttons than KOF:
LP MP HP
LK MK HK
And I noticed that, while playing KOF, I was more prone to ending up resting my palm firmly on the joystick, below the buttons, and leaving it there the whole time, supporting some of my upper body--and ending up stressing my shoulder. : P
Figuring maybe this was due to my having to move my fingers across the wider area of 3 button columns in SF rather than just 2 in KOF, I rewired my stick to make the KOF button layout for the NEOGEO like this
LP x HP
LK x HK
--moving the light and heavy buttons a row apart, like they are in SF, so it would be harder for me just to leave my palm resting in a single position the whole time.
And it seems to work! My body is tricky and has already learned to stretch its fingers enough that it doesn't have to move and can still rest its palm, but there's a least a little more inclination to move--or, enough to alert my brain, which sometimes then remembers oh yeah I shouldn't just rest my weight on my palm here the whole time.
So anyway that's been interesting. And this is the first play session with the new layout, and you'll see I was pretty awful at first as I was trying to get used to it. : P I finally eked out a tiny little run starting @ 10:08 :

(Because Hori skimped on the wires in my HRAP V and put shorter wires on the four buttons on the right side, I had to use these to extend two of the buttons' wires enough to support my re-wiring:
