(60fps) KOF 2000 on a NEOGEO #60 - working on Takuma (single play)
I want to do a story play-through in The King of Fighters 2000 with the Art of Fighting team; Takuma is on that team, and I don't feel like I have a grasp of what to do with him, so I figured I'd try some Single Play with him first to try to get a little less awful with him!
He's an interesting character--sort of like a shoto, but with no real uppercut--but some good normal attack anti-air moves, like his light kick--and some short, chopping command moves that just deck the opponent immediately. And a pretty fearsome fireball; in fact, I think maybe they kind of made the rest of his moves a bit tricky to use because that fireball is so good.
It took me a few credits : P but I finally got a little run going with him that starts @ 8:15. A lot of it relied on just seeing if the AI was going to be able to handle his varied toolbox of moves:
- Jhun (8:20) couldn't really handle much consistently at all: his command chops, command throws, or fireball, particularly.
- Hinako (10:26) had trouble with the command throw when done from long range, and with the anti-air light kick.
- Clark (12:00) was real trouble until I found he kept running right into the back-forward-back punch flurry move. ; )
- Chin (14:00) was somewhat vulnerable to long range stuff like the fireball and flying kick, but I didn't try to exploit those as much as I probably should have!
So he's kind of a Swiss Army knife. ; ) Anyway, I feel a little more comfortable with him now, I think. : o
