67-year-old captures king after opponent's illegal move | Who is right?
Yesteryear's strong player, 67-year-old Manotosh Bhattacharya, was playing his first tournament in almost three years. He has a Classical rating of 1996. A seemingly equal Rook, Bishop and few Pawns endgame featured a pawn race where the veteran's mistake allowed his opponent Chirag Kumar Gupta to get decisive advantage. However, being a hobby player, he missed his chance and fell for his opponent's tactics. He eventually made an illegal move and Manotosh captured his king. He claimed an illegal move, just like Inarkiev did against Carlsen at World Blitz 2017. Who was right in his claim?
Also find out where did White go wrong which gave his opponent a decisive advantage.
