#714 Tekken Tag Tournament (ARC) Hidden Characters (10/12): Jack-2 and P-Jack playthrough.
A playthrough of the hidden characters Jack-2 and P-Jack/Jeff in the arcade version of Namco's Tekken Tag Tournament 1.
A two for the price of one video this time, as Jack-2 and P-Jack aren't dramatically different, and where they are it's easier to show said differences in one video rather than two separate ones.
So, yes. There are no less than three official Jack characters in this game, and that's not including characters derivative of Jack like Kuma and Ganryu as well. To say this roster is a little bit bloated wouldn't be an outlandish thing to say, but Tekken Tag does make the effort to make these characters different enough that there's still some decent variety between them.
Jack-2 is effectively the "old-style" Jack, utilising all the moves he did in Tekken 2, whereas P-Jack is sort of the "new-style" Jack, taking a few moves from Gun Jack as well as utilising a few unique ones of his own. He'll keep these the next time we see him, as well. In contrast to Jack-2, he has Gun Jack's flight ability, which I absolutely adore as with a well-timed execution it will just tear through the opponent's lifebar. He also has a unique df+1+2 attack where he smashes the ground twice with his fists. Not only can this knock over the opponent, but it can also be used to hit them on the ground for even more damage, which makes him really viable in terms of "stopping power", as it were. And indeed, that's mainly what the Jacks have; the ability to stop a lot of opponents in their tracks with far-reaching knockdown attacks, as well as some hard-hitting low attacks.
Both hidden Jack characters, in this way, are really quite viable and useful as characters. This is actually the last we'll see of a hidden Jack character for quite a while, which is pretty weird really, with us not even seeing an appearance of a regular Jack character in Tekken 4. For the other Jack characters still to cover in this series, one will be a welcome return while the other...well, it's not exactly going to be the best send-off, I'll say that much.
Next time, the final true hidden character, and a welcome return for one of the most underutilised characters in the whole franchise.
