8-bit Hard Drive in Minecraft (1 Byte Storage System)

Today I show you something I've been working on for... the last hour or so. It is a "hard drive" of sorts that can store 8 bits of information, and is able to display 4 bits at a time.
Each bit is a redstone lamp either on or off, representing the binary equivalent of 0 (off) or 1 (on).
This computer here has 2 slots for data, each of 4 bits, that can be edited and then saved for later use. You can then display what is saved on the display panel that is at the front of the computer.
I'm not too sure, but I think this is what you would call a 4 bit system (modern computers are 32 bit or 64 bit).
This is mostly just a proof of concept and as I'm writing this description, I am working on an easy-to-use, 8 slot and 8 bit computer that will be able to hold 64 bits of data, or 8 Bytes worth of data.
I am in no means a computer expert or even apprentice, I'm just a beginner trying to recreate cool things in Minecraft, so I probably messed up on the terminology of what to call each type of data and its amount. Please tell me if I have made a mistake.
