0So, let's talk farming, since I finally get into it now.
Eventually, as you see, you'll have to start getting carrots to get the donkey to bring you more corpses, since this communist, socialist ass hates your new status as a bougie landowner. So, you can buy some limited quantities of carrots in town, or you can farm them. It will be much more beneficial to farm them.
However, at first, and probably for a good, long while, you'll notice that you always get less seeds of any type than you plant, leading to a constant need to keep buying more seeds, especially if you want to plant a decent number of seeds at once, like filling most of the available gardening space. But, there are only so many seeds you can buy on a regular basis, and early on, only so much money to spend on them. So, how to cope?
Alchemy. The tech trees hold the knowledge to start making fertilizer, and fertilizer has the effect of giving you more seeds among the typical effects. Getting more seeds means that you will at least generally break even on seed usage, and thus the self-sustaining farm happens...but that isn't a guaranteed thing until you're at least using Quality Fertilizer I, which requires Peat and Growth Enhancer, which needs ash(from burned bodies and thus some decent tech point expenditure to unlock) and Life Solution(most efficiently created at the Hand Mixer with Maggots gained with the Peat).
