A Fork in the Tale is an interactive move experience, somewhat similar to the modern age's quick-time event games. As the action plays out on the screen, you get various alternatives that pops up on screen for a few moments, usually in pretty convenient spots but sometimes you really gotta be quick with your clicks (the first person fighting is especially impressive). The game was a financial disaster, costing a lot of money to produce given the advanced technology and the vast amount of video, and in the end selling less than 1000 copies.

You play as an unnamed protagonist who accidentally gets pulled into an interdenominational conflict and find himself having to solve various puzzles to accumulate enough power to save his dying body in the real world. On your quest you encounter various characters, picks up a few special powers and has to go through numerous trials. And die. A lot.

Unfortunately, the move quality is pretty poor. I guess it was something of a requirement to get the game to fit on the CDs, though this game came on a whopping 5 CDs. It was probably also a requirement to allow the engine to stream video data fast enough: I must say the technology for streaming video seamless the way they do is quite impressive, and must have been quite revolutionary for the time. To bad the game play and the story is so bad.
