Clocl Tower [SNES] - Journey #295
Clock Tower is a survival horror game for the SNES, where you take the role as a young girl who just arrives to her new adoptive home, far out on the country side. You arrive at the house together with three other children, but pretty soon you find yourself completely alone in the huge mansion. It doesn't take long till you realize that this adoptive home isn't quite what you expected, and that you have to be very careful to not meet an early end.
This game is phenomenal for its time. The atmosphere is on point, you constantly feel threatened and vulnerable. Not having almost any music is a bold move of the game, but it works and adds to the feeling of loneliness. You characters lack of physique also adds to the experience, as you have to be careful in how you approach problems, and you sometimes needs to find a comfy corner to sit down and just and have a panic attack to collect yourself.
I had a blast playing this. Since I didn't play it for long, I only found two of the eight ending, but I feel I wanna play more to find them. This is a true master piece for the Super Nintendo, and I can see where many modern horror elements take their inspiration from.
