A Monologue, and direct example, about why Online Only Games *SUCK* in the long-term...
While we are all familiar Online Games being shut down, having a direct example right in our face speaks volumes. And should come as a wake up call.
Friday the 13th: The Game is janky. It's cheesy. But that's the point; Friday the 13th perfectly emulates what the Films set out to accomplish. Thanks to legal issues surrounding the entire franchise, The Game here is going to suffer by 01: Being removed from all storefronts, Digital and Physical, by the end of 2023 and 02: the Servers will be shut down by "the end" of 2024 as Illfonic recently stated.
*But Saikoro, we can still play this offline, so what is the big deal ya putz!?*
As seen at the start of the Stream, if you're on X-Box without a connection, **YOU CANNOT ACCESS A GAME THAT YOU LEGITIMATELY PAID FOR.** The $40.00 I spent here?? Irrelevant. And I'm sure the same issue will apply to the PS4 and PC iterations. While I did not have the ability to test this at the time of today's Stream, I'd bet that it's the same case across the board.
With all of that said, the only way to enjoy Friday the 13th: The Game is through unoficial, modded and, *ahem*, Pirated means. What is wrong with this picture!? Plenty. Yet it's an all too common subject that we all have to deal with.
I would ask *why has Modern Gaming come to this?* but I think you know the answer all too well.
