Friday the 13th: The Game // You REALLY NEED to check out "Complete Edition" on PC!!
Being truly bothered by the fact that Friday the 13th: The Game will be completely removed from us within the next year, I decided to take matters into my own hands.
At the time of typing this, two days ago (June 17th, 2023) I Streamed the standard version of Friday the 13th on PC, using it as an example of losing out on Games because of "Required Online Connectivity" while directly comparing it to the X-Box Version. The fact that so many of us passionate Friday fans are affected by this REALLY stings. All physical copies of F13th will be removed from Stores come the end of 2023; Digital Storefronts will completely remove F13th at around the same time. Furthermore, Illfonic/Gun Media will shut off Servers "by the end of 2024." I.E. at their whim sometime next year.
Be sure to hold on to your copy, just in case, or you'll lose it forever.
Sooo... PlayStation, X-Box, Switch and PC Gamers will lose out on all of the effort spent grinding as high as they could (150 is the Level Cap), all of their Counselor and Jason Unlocks, as well as various Costume and Emote Packs. More or less 50+ bucks. Of your earned cash. On each Platform.
It's aggravating to stop and think about it. Instead of taking this as intended by the suits in charge, I decided to take the PC Version a step further.
What you see Streamed today is the original, cracked version of Friday the 13th: The Game that requires ZERO Online or Steam connectivity. I then proceeded to unpack the 9GB PC File, for Modding of course, which gave me access to essentially everything which now weighs in at 27ish Gigs. Lastly, Friday the 13th Complete Edition (the latest Version, 12.5) was applied. The final piece of the puzzle was allowing for Controller Support, among some smaller File details. F13th now sits at a whopping 37GBs. It's easily worth the price of admission and figuring out how to get things to work.
And that brings us to what you see me playing for all of you.
We can now run around as a Counselor without any Server restrictions, play as a slew of AWESOME custom Modded or unreleased Jasons, experience the Grendel Map along with KM-14, use custom or unreleased Weapons like a Guitar (LOL) or Wooden Spear, and customize all of these Jasons to a farther extent than originally allowed, like extra Blood Splats, additional Colors, or the NES Jason Palette.
Yes, Modding on PC is amazing. But more importantly, I AM NOT RESTRICTED TO A DIGITAL PAPERWEIGHT once the Servers are shut down. Instead, I have something that is preserved and can be revisited at any time with next to zero restrictions. THIS IS HOW GAMING SHOULD BE and why I always stand by Emulation and PC Modding as a means for Gaming Preservation as a whole.
The point of today's Stream is to showcase that Online Only Games should not be the main building block of Single Player Games. Games should be allowed to OWN, as we purchased it, and enjoy at our leisure. The fact that I had to download a cracked Version and Mod something that I ALREADY OWN THREE TIMES OVER is a testament to where the Gaming Industry's agenda currently sits. I completely understand that not every Title out there follows this trend. Rather, the ones that do outweigh the ones that don't. And it's downright troubling.
If that notion doesn't bother you, you need to educate yourself on this fact...
