Haven't played too many classic JRPGs myself, but I can see the some references here and there. The game is impressively full of content and can easily have you chalking up 50 hours of playtime with plenty of side quests, secrets to find, and special elite monsters to slay. Combat is quite unique. I like how the game forces you to use other abilities rather than just the same few with the Overdrive meter. The Ultra move is very helpful too, especially when taking on multiple enemies.

However, the game isn't kidding when it says that I'm not ready to take on the Unique Monsters yet. Those fellas are tough as nuts. Might come back once I've progressed a bit further in the storyline.

And yes, you can pet the cats and dogs in this game :)
