A Pretty Metroidvania Set On The Vietnamese Jungles | Divine Guardian demo
Hello everyone! Another demo of an upcoming game here. This is Divine Guardian, a hand-drawn metroidvania set on the vietnamese jungles. Background looks pretty, but the camera movements to follow the character is not that smooth. Rooms felt uncomfortably huge to explore and some enemies were really hard to see (although I liked their design). Combat felt like it still needs to be polished and before there was a huge difficulty spike when facing the boss, which made me realize, after a whole hour, that dash doesn't grant you invulnerability. At least, I realized after one attempt, so I could beat it in the next one, otherwise I would still be there complaining about the dash xD.
Even after one hour, didn't explore too many rooms (because they are too big with many different paths) and didn't get too many upgrades, which for me is the main attraction in metroidvanias. If you just exploring and backtracking, you might enjoy it more than me. Also, the throwable was pretty underwhelming... maybe with auto-aim so it doesn't go straight-line all the time it would be better?
