Manjaro Linux is a fast, easy-to-use, desktop-oriented operating system based on Arch Linux.
Key features include intuitive installation process, automatic hardware detection, stable continuous release model, ability to install multiple kernels, special Bash scripts for managing graphics drivers, and extensive desktop configurability.
Manjaro Linux offers Xfce as the main desktop options, in addition to KDE, GNOME and a minimalist Net edition for more advanced users. Community supported desktop types are also available.
This system uses the development model known as Rolling Release, so that existing users can upgrade to the new version from the same operating system.
Now, the team of developers behind one of the most popular Arch Linux-based distributions has just released Manjaro 21.1.6, the sixth update to Pavho.
Manjaro News 21.1.6
On October 8th, they released v21.1.5 of this popular distribution based on Arch Linux. It didn't come much after the previous point update, and I think the installation issues had something to do with it.
In 21.1.4 and the initial version of 21.1.5 it was not possible to install the system if BTRFS was not used, a bug that is expected to have finally been fixed in Manjaro 21.1.6 that has been available since last night.
Manjaro 21.1.6 corresponds to the stable version 2021-10-16. The first numbering is the one performed by the ISO images, and for existing users packages are upgraded from the same operating system and the numbering is the date.
And as for the new features, they are not very prominent, especially for those who don't use the KDE environment. Check it out below:
Thunderbird 91.2.0.
KDE Gear has been updated to 08.21.2.
KDE Frameworks has been uploaded to 5.87.0.
Python and Haskell updates.
Other general package updates.
The update in Manjaro KDE weighs in at just over 700 MB, while in other versions like i3 it is just over 400 MB.
It's a little surprising that this time they didn't update the kernels, but not much considering they updated them 8 days earlier. The newest is Linux 5.14.10, and they note that the 5.13 series has already reached the end of its lifecycle (EOL).
As for the issues that may occur, when updating or installing Manjaro 21.1.6 Steam could show a black screen, although the truth is that I was already experiencing a similar issue. They also mention that Firefox can mix languages.
Download and try Manjaro Linux 21.1.6
When available, you can download Manjaro Linux 21.1.6 Pahvo right now from the official website if you plan to install the Arch Linux-based distro on new computers.
Official editions are available in normal and minimal in Xfce, KDE and GNOME.
If you are already using Manjaro Linux on your personal computer, all you need to do to get these improvements and updated components is to make sure your installations are up to date by running the command sudo pacman -Syuin a terminal emulator.
