With having the matecam on the rear of the monocular, I'm not able to use the rubber eye cup on the eyepiece, so there's light backsplash onto my face when the Iris on the objective lens is fully open, but by closing it, it limits the backsplash and allows me to sneak passed undetected, whilst still being able to see where I'm going and what I'm seeing too.

I'm in the dark woods, and there's someone camping near the carpark, they have a huge fire too, which works to my advantage, as it reduces their own eyes night vision whilst allowing my Gen 3 to work better even with my objective lenses Iris fully closed.

The person walks about 20m from where I am, but because of their reduced night vision from their fire they don't see me and I remain undetected at the far end of the carpark.

In the future I'll acquire a large sheet of cloth and drape it over my helmet, head and NV, allowing no light to be visible on my face from the rear of the eyepiece or from the small blue LEDs of the matecam.
