Scott Bates was one of my personal heroes, even though we never met in person. We met on the internet in 2006-2007, and his life's story moved me at a time in my life when I was probably the hardest to move.

He taught me a lot, just with his demeanor and outlook on life. He taught me about being an adult, cross-generational discussions, and how to never be afraid of your artistic passions, even if you lack training or feel like you lack "talent".

We ran a site for NASCAR Racing 2003 season together, and we (along with others) created some wonderful work together that I will never forget. It was a harmonious community of colorful (in the best way) personalities that could only have been created by Scott.

The community was all heavily involved with the TM Master Cup series, including Scott himself. This video is every single TM Master Cup paintscheme he ran (or sent me), with period-appropriate engine sounds.

He meant a lot to a lot of people in the online NASCAR community, and touched a lot of people with his generosity and honesty.

My thoughts go to his family and many friends.
