This was an unusual copper mine that had (still has) some massive potential. This mine was worked primarily in the 1910's and 1920's before being abandoned when the ore body was found to degrade at depth. When mining ceased the workings consisted of 8 levels and 8 miles of underground workings. The mine was originally worked via a 400 ft. vertical shaft. In the video, we find this shaft completely stripped of all infrastructure. A large inclined shaft was later driven and became the primary access point into the mine.
For unknown reasons, the inclined shaft was tightly filled with waste material, all the way to the 300 Level! We had never seen anything like it...Another interesting dilemma is the accessibility of the 400-800 Levels. We were able to work down to the 300 Level, but could not find a way any lower. And with the inclined shaft plugged, there weren't any other ways down. So for now, the 400-800 Levels will remain unexplored. It's unclear to us whether it's even possible to access these levels anymore.
In any case, this mine was still somewhat interesting. There was a fair amount of neat timbering, miner's graffiti, and chute signs.
