So Saidaioujou is now finally playable in Mame after nine and a half years of waiting.
Except the only playable version is a romhack where all the assets are replaced with memes.
Knuckles, Hello Kitty and a T-Rex team up to fight Sans Undertale while getting advice from Garfield through the operator.

But all jokes aside, this Mame release is a pretty big deal.
Before this the only way to play the game was via PCB, the EXA version or the Xbox360 port. The 360 port suffered from severe input lag, the PCB costs $6000 and the EXA version costs $2000. So until now there really wasn't an accessible or ideal way to play the game.
And even though Mame currently adds input lag to modern Cave games made on the Cv1k hardware, the input lag is still much better than on 360.
Though this romhack is a meme, the readme hints at a proper release on April 20th, the 10-year anniversary of the game.

Requirements to trigger the TLB:
- Beat the game with 1 death or less.
- At least 3 Bee Perfect Stages.

In order to get slowdown to work you need to fiddle a bit with the CPU and Blitter settings. The above felt pretty close to PCB, at least for Shot/Laser.

SDOJ is still one of the most popular games in the arcade.
Every time arcade HEY streams the game for a week it's always a big event with thousands of people watching.
There are a bunch of guys there that can do like Hibachi clears all day long and the chat keeps track of how many Hibachi kills there were in the week.
This survival route is probably the most safe and optimum for a Hibachi clear.
You avoid hypers until stage 5 for a low-rank Hibachi and use a super-safe hyper route for stage 5. Stalling the first midboss is also a good strategy to avoid triggering the 4th midboss, who is quite a scamp.

SDOJ is still one of the most fun games Cave ever put out. Once you learn it it's a real joy to play.

Yes Inbachi is still Sans.
Which means he truly is the hardest videogame boss ever made.
