Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies - Episode 17: The Gift that Keeps on Hurting
In today's episode of the "Dual Destinies" playthrough, we discover that Jinxie's a furry, get cosmetics from L'Belle, and gain access to the Forbidden Chamber.
One thing that has always confused me about this case is why L'Belle would bother to destroy the blackmail letter upon Apollo showing it to him. Sure, it's probably a callback to the first "Ace Attorney" game in which Phoenix had a bad habit of confronting culprits with crucial evidence, only for them to attempt to steal it back and/or retaliate against him. However, unlike in the first "Ace Attorney" game, where Phoenix was presenting evidence that had yet to be presented in court and was definitively linked to the culprit without a shadow of a doubt, in this case, Florent has no reason to do this. For one thing, the letter was already presented in court and proven to be a motive in the crime, so the only thing that Florent would get from destroying it now would be a charge for tampering with evidence. In addition, while we know that the letter was really addressed to Damian, the court already believes that it was sent to the Alderman due to there being no definitive proof to the contrary, which is what Florent wanted to happen. I mean, if Florent was going to destroy the letter the moment it was presented, why even bother planting it?
But then again, this is Florent L'Belle we're talking about, a.k.a. the culprit with a plan so convoluted that it would make a "Scooby-Doo" villain blush. Not to mention, this is the guy who mass-produces his own line of high-quality cosmetics and makes it a point to advertise them all over the place for the sole purpose of telling the world that they're for him and him alone. Seriously, this guy's taking a page from Cartman's playbook.
Though considering that Jinxie wanders around the woods at night in a Tenma Taro costume, I wouldn't be surprised if Florent is one of the more normal people in Tenma Town and sheer insanity of their population is the main reason the people of Nine-Tails Vale are opposed to the merger.
