Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies - Episode 26: Phoenix Wright: Ace Bigshot
In today's episode of the "Dual Destinies" playthrough, we cross-examine DePlume, use the Mood Matrix on her, and hear Simon slander an orca while singing praises about the penguins.
I swear, for someone who'd rather be doing anything else than prosecute an orca, Simon's really going to town when it comes to paining said orca as a villain. Heck, Simon's showing more animosity to Orla than he did towards Damian in the last case. Sure, Simon was quick to take advantage of Damian's fake possession by paining him out as a demon and joked with Jinxie that he'd decapitate her dad, but as far as intentions were concerned, he never strayed from the belief that the murder was done with rational, understandable reasons. Meanwhile, Simon's acting like Orla's this cunning, bloodthirsty creature that had this entire ordeal planned from the very beginning, pretending to be all innocent and playful as she bided her time. But then again, Simon did say at the start of the trial that he'd treat an orca defendant no differently from a human, so I guess he's just keeping to his word. Simon may be a hinedere prisoner who dresses like an anime character, but at least he has his principles.
Though given Simon's remark about how the penguins are the true stars of the aquarium, perhaps he's just trying to make the most of a bad situation- if he's being forced to prosecute an orca, he might as well do everything in his power to dethrone that killer whale, thereby allowing the penguins to claim that spot at the top of the adoration pyramid for themselves.
