This is being played in software mode to avoid several very distracting graphical glitches. For personal play, you can get hardware mode to a playable state but there will still be severe ghosting, terrain glitches, missing clouds, missing explosions, missing effects in general, busted stonehenge blasts, the player's plane will be bug out in various ways visually, the sun/moon will turn into a massive eyesore and so on. Yeah, the game doesn't look great in software mode but it's a 20 year old PS2 game. Of course it doesn't look great. It is still a fantastic game, though.
No amount of upscaling is going to fix textures best described as a smear, anyway.
This game has native 16:9 support, so I enable it.
I played on normal difficulty.
This is segmented and edited. There are no in-mission edits.
Notes
Ace Combat 4 returns to the money/score based system used in Ace Combat 1 & 2. The higher the score, the more money you get.
The replay is pretty slow and the missions tend to 2-4 times the length of any given mission in Ace Combat 1 through 3. I skip the replay after the voice over finishes to save time.
Audio settings don't apply to pre-rendered scenes.
