Twenty-four years have passed since Ace Combat (originally known as Air Combat) made its debut, but within the last decade, the series has suffered a couple of blunders.
2011's Ace Combat: Assault Horizon was criticised for its drastic changes, and 2014's Ace Combat Infinity was criticised for its free-to-play model, with its servers defunct in 2018.
Now Project Aces return to the world of Strangereal with Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown, and for the most part, it's a blast, though it isn't the pinnacle of the series.
