ACE Tries Let's Plays Again - Ghouls 'N Ghosts (Megadrive) - Loop 1
43Hey all. I haven't done live recordings for a while now, and I need to practice. The Christmas Carol 3 developer playthrough is coming, but I keep running into recording issues, so I figured I'd cut my teeth on a familiar (and short) game. Take this playthrough as a way for me to catch people up, that'll also probably be the bulk of the 'commentary' in Loop 2.
As janky and blatantly unfair as the Ghosts 'N Goblins games are, I honestly love this game, and while I think the SNES one is pretty great too and I think is objectively a better game, I prefer this one from a gameplay standpoint. I like the simplistic nature, and personally prefer having multi-direction aiming and boss checkpoints over the double jump and weapon upgrades.
I feel very out of practice doing this sort of thing, and thanks to my health issues, my time spent playing video games is pretty limited lately. I'm familiar enough with the Megadrive/Genesis version of Ghouls 'N Ghosts that even with lack of practice I can beat it easily enough.
Some deaths in Stage 2 and Stage 5 were edited out, and commentary around those points was edited to flow more. If you notice oddities with scores/lives, that's why. Stage 5 is abnormally difficult even for this game, and Red Arremers are obnoxious in any GnG game so...
I will be following up with Loop 2. I'll probably talk about something else during that run, until we reach the final boss.
