Adding a Safety Cage in the Dead Zone to Watch Void Chelicerates in Subnautica: Below Zero
As a small update to my void chelicerate observatory I wanted to build a cage in the water to be able to watch the chelicerates as they aggressively try to attack. This is also to be able to separate and kill the void chelicerates later on.
Some things I learned in making this is that foundations are completely safe as a barrier - while the chelicerates can clip through it they cannot hurt you. Likewise, if they clip through the large rooms you're safe. On the other hand, gaps of any sort (such at the I corridors above or vertical corridors on the edges) allow them to damage you if you get too close.
This was done on survival and required a huge amount of resources. Significant reinforcements were needed to maintain hull integrity and the sheer amount of titanium needed had me occasionally resort to glass corridors to save on it, not to mention the large amount of lead needed for foundations.
The finishing touches to building the base were done on stream at https://youtu.be/zFiGo2o8t_c?t=9931
The full base and watching the chelicerates from inside can be seen at https://youtu.be/v0cOjoNMM2E
The idea is inspired from Oarfish (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCu3Z5MVhgLiGDjHfEGwvwEQ) who made several such bases in Subnautica.
