There was a bit of an odd theory going around in the mid 90s in that, if you made an offensive first person shooter it would sell like crazy. The sad thing is, this actually was the case, even when the game wasn't all that good. Today's Ancient DOS Game, Redneck Rampage, was praised back when it was new but more modern sensibilities have called this thing out for the tripe it truly is and I'm not going to let its poor design off the hook just because of how unique it is as far as its presentation and mechanics are concerned.

Additional Information and Corrections:

* If you really wanna buy this thing, here's the GOG link to pick it up: https://www.gog.com/game/redneck_rampage_collection/?pp=91dfde1d6e005e422f64a59776234f1f4c80b5e4

* I actually forgot about a DOSBox configuration setting: You need to set "memsize" in the "dosbox" section of the config file to 32. The default setting of 16 should work but may run into memory issues so it's better to up the memory limit.

* Other issues this game has: Secrets with nothing inside them, dangerous things which don't always kill/hurt you when they touch you, regular enemies which can pretty much insta-kill you at close range, weapons themselves being hard to come by, pickups tend to be clustered together instead of staggered around the levels, you can't jump that high at all, repeat textures EVERYWHERE, not a lot of different sound effects, and shots from your weapons sometimes miss just because the game doesn't feel like letting you hit your mark, despite the fact you clearly did.

* At least it's not Extreme Paintbrawl, which is considered to be the worst Build Engine game ever made...
