ADG Filler #21 - Bubble Bobble Part 2
Originally Released: October 13th, 2012

A quick look at the NES sequel to Bubble Bobble, which is technically not canonical to the Bubble Bobble series as prior to this game there was Bubble Symphony, which didn't see much distribution, and Bubble Memories, which was pretty much limited to arcade venues in Japan. :P
As for the whole YouTube thing, remember the state YouTube was in back when I posted this video on Blip: The system was very anti-fair-use at the time and creators were routinely getting their content blocked, removed, demonetized, or even having their entire channels taken down. I came to YouTube because fans wanted an alternative to using Blip due to technical issues, and at first, I ran into all kinds of issues trying to get my stuff on here. Blip's impending shutdown is what forced my hand and led to me moving everything here in short order.
It's years later now. Blip is gone and YouTube has gotten a few shades better and a couple shades worse. Simply put: Things are better on YouTube now than they were back when I made this video, but there's still many improvements they need to make if this place is to become the best video hosting site ever.

Additional Information and Corrections:
* I tried to do this video without a script because of how short on time I was... I definitely perform better with a script than without. Even had to make some stealth edits because I got a couple facts wrong. :/
* Although one of the last NES games there were still about 30 or so more (licensed titles) following this one. Still, with over 700 games on the NES...
* There's only 80 levels in the game as opposed to 100, so technically it's a little shorter than other Bubble Bobble games, but the bonus games and bosses probably extend it out to a similar length. :B
* Some of the powerups are only attainable after beating a mini-game from going through a gate and they last as long as you can go without using a continue! This includes the Alarm Bell, which works just like in other Bubble Bobble games, a special pyramid which makes scoring items fall down after every level, and even a 1UP medallion that drops five one-up powerups for you to collect!
* One thing that's very curious is that it IS indeed possible for this invincible enemy to appear if you're taking too long, but this takes a huge amount of time, upwards of a full minute on more! I don't think I've ever seen this enemy appear during normal gameplay, only when intentionally trying to get it to appear... at least, in single-player mode. When I was doing my two-player run this thing was appearing far more often than usual. I think there might be some dynamics going on with the difficulty depending on how many lives you have... that's just a guess though.
* One of the bubble types I neglected to mention because it only shows up a tiny handful of times are the Explosive Bubbles. Basically, if you touch them, they explode, and the explosion will kill you if you're too close, though it will also kill enemies. Generally, you want to avoid them because the only way to safely pop them is from a distance by popping a string of bubbles.
* I actually played through the two-player mode using both players and noticed that it's actually far more challenging, since when the game changes to the other player, the entire level resets! This makes certain levels far more difficult than usual since if you die after defeating most of the enemies, you have to defeat all of the enemies all over again! :O
