I am generally terrible at strategy games, but X-COM was one of the most requested games on my requests list... so I had to give it a go.

I can see why this game is as well received as it is, but that doesn't negate some of its odd design decisions, as well as my inability to play it that well. :P

Additional Information and Corrections:

* Here's a link to the Steam Store page where you can pick up a copy of this game: http://store.steampowered.com/app/7760

* It's also available on GOG now! It's slightly more expensive to buy on its own on GOG, but cheaper if you intend to get ALL of the X-COM games. Also, my links to GOG are actually affiliate links so purchasing from GOG means I get a tiny piece of the change! https://www.gog.com/game/xcom_ufo_defense/?pp=91dfde1d6e005e422f64a59776234f1f4c80b5e4

* I was mildly sick the past few days when I made this video so it may've affected my performance ever so slightly. ^_^;

* Something I find funny is that there were more requests for this game than there were correct guesses. ;D

* There's actually a bit more graphic violence in this game than I've shown, I was just careful about how much got shown. In contrast, believe it or not, the ESRB rating of the game when you look it up on Steam is E for everyone, despite this.

* The location I picked in Canada for my base is not where I actually live and was actually a really stupid place to put a base. Your bases should go somewhere that can cover a large portion of a country or several countries in order to help protect them and keep your funding high from them.

* One thing I also didn't realize while capturing game footage is that your aircraft can actually detect UFOs, so sometimes it's a good idea to use them to scout around to various locations that are otherwise outside of the effective scanning range of your base. You also don't want to start building new bases until you really have the money to support a new one.

* One of the interesting things to pop up a few years ago was OpenXcom, which is an open-source clone of the original game but with bugs squashed, code portability, and modding capabilities. You can download it simply enough from https://openxcom.org/ but keep in mind you still need a legit copy of the game in order to load in all the data files.
