Sometimes it surprises me how certain games end up getting published at all. Star Quest I has a lot of neat ideas in it, but the execution doesn't live up to any of them... save for the racing aspect. If this game was nothing BUT racing it would've been many times more fun. :B

Additional Information and Corrections:

* Here's a link to the Virtual Adventures website where you can get the shareware download from. As for the commercial version though, I have no idea if they still actively sell the game: http://www.virtuadv.com

* Interestingly, just a couple years after making this video, the Virtual Adventures website was overhauled and a kickstarter was run to fund development of a new Star Quest game! The kickstarter only hit a tiny fraction of its $30,000 goal and there's been little said of the new game since then.

* One big tip I forgot to mention in the review is that to regenerate your energy, all you have to do is fly CLOSE to the sun. Obviously, you don't want to fly straight into it. In fact, if you get close to the sun and set your throttle to zero, you'll be pretty much invulnerable to attack due to how quickly your energy recharges and how bad the enemies are at attacking you.

* There's numerous cockpit colours you can choose from as well, though you can't visually cycle through them, so selecting the one you like the most can be a chore. :P
