ADG Episode 95 - Commander Keen
Originally Released: July 28th, 2012
------------------------------------------
Commander Keen is a surprisingly significant game given that the engine which drives it is what led to the formation of Id Software and the many titles and engines which came from them following. :B
That said, I'm not a huge fan of the Commander Keen games. They're not bad by any means, just not my cup of tea. :P

Additional Information and Corrections:
* If you want to grab the game from 3D Realms, click your way here: https://3drealms.com/catalog/commander-keen-invasion-vorticons_12/
* However, for a better deal, you should probably grab the game pack available on Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/9180
* I said that Keen has his pogo stick in all the other Keen games but that's not technically true. There's a particular game called Keen Dreams which was made for Softdisk after Invasion of the Vorticons in which Commander Keen doesn't have his pogo stick OR his gun... Kinda makes me think Id Software was pulling a joke on Softdisk much the same way Super 3D Noah's Ark (a very surreal unlicensed port of Wolfenstein 3D on the SNES) was a joke on Nintendo.
* There were a number of things I didn't touch on in the episode itself, most notably: The Standard Galactic Alphabet. Really though, it's just a set of glyphs to represent the typical letters found in English. Most of the things spelled out in this "language" in the game aren't too important, though decoding it the hard way can be an interesting challenge. Or if you don't care to do all that and just want to know what everything says, point your way here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standard_Galactic_Alphabet#Standard_Galactic_Alphabet
* Some of the more unique features to each episode include ice shooters that temporarily freeze you into a block of ice in Episode 1, switches that turn off the lights and scare enemies into not jumping at all in Episode 2, and auto-shooting turrets in Episode 3, some of which actually shoot vertically! (Yes, this is a big deal since everything up to this point only shoots horizontally!)
* Each episode has one kind of enemy that's not hostile. Episode 1 has these green things that can't hurt you and just push you around. If you stomp on one it stuns it temporarily. Episode 2 has these round robots that walk around walls and ceilings and also act as platforms. Episode 3 has these yellow puffy things that are frightened of you and die if you so much as touch them! D:
