In my opinion, this game is worth the money! It's visually appealing, I love Cadabra Games (very responsive on their discord) and the game is enjoyable. The other comparison for roguelike monster-taming I have is Patch Quest, which is much more along the classic roguelike, whereas Adore provides something more unique. Both games are fun and different.
