Aegis Defender is a Sidescrolling Platformer and Tower Defense Mashup. A level starts with you and your grampa going through a level and solving simple puzzles and collect items which get sold after the level ends. At a certain point you discover a relikt and this is where the Tower Defense Phase kicks in. The monster come from set points and try to destroy the relikt for some unknown reason and it's your job to stop them from doing this. The better you're doing it, the more RP you get at the end of the level. The way you defend the relikt is that each character can build a own set of defense mechanisms. So the Grandpa can build small walls and autoturrets and the granddaughter can build mines and anklesnares. Both of the character can also attack the incoming monsters directly. Since you play alone, you can leave one of the characters at a wished point and the granddaughter shoots the incoming enemies and the grandpa repairs the defenses. After you beat the level, you go to a peaceful fireplace screen, where you can spend your RP for Tower or Defense System Upgrades and you can spend the Money for weapons.
