This is AOE IV Basic Combat. The Art of War Challenge on Gold

I decided to take the time out to start going through a list of all the challenges for Art of War in Age of Empires IV.

This strategy should help you get the gold medal or get some practice in the right direction in the Art of War Challenge: Basic Combat. Age of empires has put together some unique challenges to help you learn the intricate part of the game and prepare you for greater multiplayer combatants.

This will task you with developing to Age IV in 10 minutes. Many PVP high-skill player games will have similar outcomes keeping you on your toes with managing micro-skills. This is a great framework to build the rhythm of late gameplay methods and development to strengthen your chance of success in AOE 4 Skirmish battles.

Basic Combat is one of the more complex challenges within the tutorial section of Art of War. Start off the first part by separating your spearmen into two groups and push the horseman as they come in from the east. Circle around them with the split groups to minimize deaths and pull out any low-health troops to ensure you don't lose them. The archers use the same split troop tactic and hide one group in the forest and one in the field just south. Circle the forest group around the field group like forming a circle to keep the ai following you. This will help keep the center group alive. For the third challenge, place your horseback riders in the forest and move eastward in a straight formation to help them get to the archers at the same time and reduce their attack time. Monitor your horsemen to leave combat to keep them alive and have them re-enter. Part four will be you placing the archers near the church at the town center, then using the spearmen, drawing the polearm enemies setting fire to the tower in the north. This is the hardest part of the challenge and may take a few attempts to keep the groups split while you dwindle away the forces. For part 5, send both groups into the west forest for hiding. Send the horseman to rush the archers after the enemy horsemen make it to town and send your spearman in to assist. Cycle out friendly units as necessary. Attempt to pull the enemy group destroying buildings to the north separately to increase your survival rate, inch your troops forward north to pull just a few, and that will make the challenge.

The missions can be pretty taxing but don't give up. With some practice and smoothing out some edges in time, you can have these with ease. I wanted to offer a step-by-step instructional that was easy to follow along and recreate to help other people get them completed and get any challenges out there. I know it would have been a help for me as I'm not super great at RTS games.
