There's still a lot more to come in terms of advanced unit abilities, spells and nasty enemy types, but there's no question that the scope and scale of the battles in the full version of Age of Fear: The Undead King increases quite a lot over the course of the campaigns.

I don't do particularly well in this video (winning a battle isn't always enough in AoF's interconnected series of campaign missions if you lose too many units trying), and the primary reason for that is, as so often, I wasn't careful enough about protecting my weaker support units. Holding the line is crucial in this game, since the AI will immediately seize on any opportunity to go after the player's archers, mages and monks. Notice also how at the beginning of this skirmish there are three distinct groups of enemies, and in later battles especially it becomes clear that different parts of the enemy force perform different tactical functions on the battlefield.
