♫AGE OF HEAT HAZE (Zan) SNES Arrangement - NintendoComplete
This is an arrangement of "Age of Heat Haze," Motoi Sakuraba's intro theme from the 1989 Nihon Telenet game, Zan: Kagerou no Toki (斬 陽炎の時代). I have arranged the song for native playback on SNES hardware, and the audio was recorded directly from a launch-model SNES deck.
The Zan series is fairly exotic stuff, even by import standards, so don't be too surprised if you don't recognize the game. Even though Wolfteam's classic series appeared on several platforms (PC98, X68000, PC Engine, Super Famicom, Mega Drive, Game Gear, et al), as far as I know, not a single one has ever been officially released outside of Japan. Probably because they're historical strategy games that are thoroughly inscrutable to anyone who is not reasonably literate in Japanese.
But there's no denying what freaking sweet soundtracks these games had. I first heard this song many years ago (late 90s, maybe?) in Zan Gear, and I instantly fell in love with it. As far as I know, this tune didn't ever appear in a SNES game, so I thought I'd give it a shot.
I really love how that build beginning around 2:45 sets up the final part of the song. It's so dramatic!
Thanks for listening!
