To me the main problem with this secret tech is that the units and mods will be the same no matter what faction you're playing. For heritor, you're looking at something similar but at least their units can take faction mods and can also use those heritor units to amplify their existing roster. Perhaps just making it so that Xeno units can use more mods from their faction would be enough to make them more diverse and interesting.
