OpenAI Launches Sora App and Sora 2 AI Model
In addition to a social media app called Sora that functions similarly to TikTok, OpenAI has released Sora 2, a new AI tool that produces realistic audio and video. A feature called "cameos" allows users to add their voice and face to AI-generated scenes, allowing them to make entertaining videos of themselves. By adhering to real-life physics, Sora 2 gives videos a more realistic appearance. With plans to expand, the app is presently accessible on iOS in the United States and Canada. Sora 2 is available to ChatGPT Pro users without an invitation.
Trump’s H-1B Visa Hike May Benefit Indian IT Hubs
More American businesses may move important jobs to India as a result of U.S. President Donald Trump's recent decision to raise the H-1B visa fee to $100,000. Global Capability Centers (GCCs) in India, which currently manage tasks like finance, technology, and research for multinational corporations, are anticipated to expand as a result. Experts say that because of the growing use of AI and the rising cost of visas, companies are now planning to expand operations in India, which has more than 1,700 GCC countries. More strategic and innovative roles may soon be handled by GCC countries.
UPI Collect Request Feature Discontinued from Today
The 'Collect Request' function on UPI apps such as Google Pay, PhonePe, and Paytm will be discontinued on October 1, 2025. In order to prevent online fraud, the NPCI has discontinued this feature, which allowed users to solicit money from others. By accepting fictitious requests, many people were duped into sending money. You must now request that the sender send the money directly to your bank account, UPI ID, or QR code. Never accept unknown requests and make sure your UPI app is up to date.
Woman Behind World’s Biggest Crypto Scam Pleads Guilty
Yadi Zhang, also known as Zhimin Qian, entered a guilty plea in the UK to laundering billions of dollars' worth of cryptocurrency from a huge scam in China. Through a phony investment company, she defrauded 128,000 investors between 2014 and 2017, transferring funds into bitcoin. The largest cryptocurrency seizure in history occurred when UK police confiscated 61,000 bitcoins from her, which are currently valued at over £5.5 billion. Qian was detained in 2024 after escaping to the UK in 2017. Her strange aspirations to become a "goddess" and govern a kingdom she had created herself were documented in her diary.
Meta Acquires Chip Startup Rivos to Boost In-House AI Efforts
To bolster its internal semiconductor development, Meta is purchasing Rivos, a California-based chip startup that specializes in RISC-V architecture. The agreement supports Meta's efforts to lessen dependency on pricey third-party AI chips, such as those made by Nvidia. One of Meta's main suppliers, Rivos, was once valued at over $2 billion. It is anticipated that the acquisition will help Meta achieve its goal of reducing infrastructure costs by producing its own AI chips. Both businesses declined to comment on the deal, and the financial terms are still unknown.
